i was going through a drive through and my car just shut down and would not start back. the body shop says i need a cam and crank sensior, does this sound right?

Sounds like a timing belt to me

they could relate to the problem and some of them are sold as sets but why on earth would you let a body shop do the work? take it to a repair facility that has the equipment to do an electronic diagnosis.

it sounds entirely possible. if tis a reputable shop, go with it, but if it bothers you, get another opinion. but yes, a camshaft or crankshaft sensor could go bad and cause it to just quit running like that.

Well, not a cam sensor, but a crankshaft sensor..... this sensor replaced the old mechanical distributer..... so if the crankshaft sensor is bad then the engine will not fire correctly.
