Genetic drift is just the accumulation of changes in a population. Populations usually accumulate changes when environmental conditions change. That causes different characteristics to have survival value. Some changes are due to mutations, of course, but others are just natural variations from genetic recombination during reproduction.

That's genetic drift....it occurs when a subpopulation becomes isolated and by chance, does not have a genetic composition that matches the larger population precisely.
