you know you get nothing for getting points so there must be another reason for being here, why dod u answer questions/ask

Well, I'm not that much into points actually so I think yes, there is obviously some other reasons and I think one is - our basic human nature that's we always want to be heard & we like to listen to others too. And yahoo answers gives us ample scope to do that & I think it's a very open & somewhat honest platform as well - we say what we've to say without much pretense or without being afraid because of this certain anonymity here,that kind of gives us a protective shield.
I also like the 24/7 approach here that whenever we feel like asking something, we always get heard & there're always people out there to respond to us & time is never a constraint. And so, sometimes when we're a bit alone, its kind of makes us feel a bit less lonely I guess.Then some of the questions here are actually good ones & so gives ample food for my thoughts as well. And finally last but not the least - it's fun, entertaining & we also get some kind of satisfaction by just being of help to each other. And I think that's all the good reasons I could say for now :)

It fills up time. And sometimes if you answer a particularly deep question, you feel great for being smart and for being able to help a fellow out. Some people do it for the points, although they are meaningless.

Well, right now I'm on because I just got ready to go out to dinner and my husband decided to mow the lawn. I'm killing time til he thinks he's finished.
