Give me one disadvantage of a rotary engine as compared to a modern four-stroke engine.

Fewer moving parts...
better power to weight ratio...
smoother running at all rpms...
smaller overall than piston engines (more compact)...

Take your pick.

OHHHHHHH, you wanted disadvantage this time!!!

Takes different expertise to work on internals...

not many people understand them or work on them Wankle engines.They are harder to keep the polution down, i heard. i like them and you can rev the hell out of them engines. no to many moving parts like a regular pistion engine.
