2 old men
aquaintances
One I had just met that day
The other I had met a few times, 3 I think
I actually think if you are old and in pain, its a quick way.
Takes guts I think.
I kind of agree with Vonnegut that it isn't a good idea though. It sets a bad example for the kids. Maybe leaving a clear note and jumping off a high place is better.
When you are in tons of pain, not likely to get better, maybe it makes sense then. It would nice if it was legal and then just an injection instead.

Suicide is more common because (I think) our society has lost respect for God, for each other, and for ourselves. We have become a "throw away" people. We're throwing everything away from drink cups to wearable clothes to babies to old people to spouses and even our very lives. Suicide is a permanent way of getting rid of temporary stress. Two young men in our community commited suicide in just the past two weeks. And I know several others in recent years. It's a sad thing to think even life is no longer sacred.

In Korea lots of people kill themselves by drinking pesticides. The reason is that in a Confucian society, to defile your body is disrespect to your ancestors.
