"i guess she doing it for her own image and sometimes "catering" white people improves your image sad to say it works...look @ her now a billionare and all she did was work hard and cater to the people she know she can munipulate and put her name on (if you know what i mean)"
i mean, what makes her so special? why is she "powerful"?

She is so powerful because she has the power to sway the opinion of millions of housewives across America. When Oprah tells them to do something, they do it.

She works hard and doesn't cater to anyone. She is educated and articulate. She is a good person, with an intact moral compass. People are attracted to that, and that is why she is so successful.

First of all, Oprah worked and worked her way up, earned herself billions, gave much charity, helped others, and to top it off is a the most rich BLACK woman in the world. Therefore, she is powerful. She is also admirable for her courage and her charitableness.
