Use the system. When you first divide, note that one term is negative and the other one is positive. This means the answer is NEGATIVE. This eliminates two of the four answers right off the bat. Of the remainders, they have different values for both x and y exponents, so you only need to evaluate ONE of these. Try x. You have x^8/x^4. What's the rule? Subtract denominator power from numerator power. So do 8-4 to get 4. Thats answer C.

-12/3 = -4
x^8 / x^4 = x^(8-4) = x^4
y^8 / y^2 = y^(8-2) = y^6

Answer: -4x^4y^6 (C)
