8x²+ 11x - 10 = 0

8x² + 16x - 5x - 10 = 0

8x(x + 2) - 5(x + 2)

(8x - 5)(x + 2)

- - - - - - - - - -s-

Factor the left side to get

(8x-5)(x+2)=0

Now set each part of the product equal to zero and solve

8x-5=0 and x+2=0

Solutions are x=5/8 or -2

8x^2+11x-10=0
(8x - 5)(x + 2) = 0
x = 5/8 or x = -2.

8x^2+11x-10=0

a=8 , b = 11 , c = -10

x1,2 =( -b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/2a

= (-11 +/- sqrt(121 - 4 * 8 * (-10))) / 16
= (-11 +/- sqrt(441) )/ 16

x1 = (-11 + 21) / 16 = 10/16 = 5/8
x2 = (-11 -21) / 16 = -32/16 = -2
