I am getting a 60 gallon tank. I want it to be very diverse with fish. I am only going to have a couple of plants. I am going to make it look like a saltwater tank but it will actually be a freshwater tank. I have already bought the white rocks and some colored fake coral. I was thinking about putting these fish in it;

ghost shrimps or cherry fire shrimps
angel fishs
ghost glass cats
Chinese algae eaters
powder blue dwarf gouramis
sparkling gouramis
threadfin rainbows
boesemani rainbows
hi fin lyretail swordtails
and maybe some bala sharks.

I am pretty sure that most of these except the bala and angel fish are community fish that will be fine together. Is this too many different types of fish to put together? Do any of these not get a long?

the angels should be fine, they CAN be aggressive but I have 2 in my community tank, and they do fine with everyone else. the chinese algae eaters get very territorial and aggressive when they attain adult size.. I would suggect you get an Otocinclus or two if you are going to have live plants. I would say pleco butthey will destroy your live plants. A cory cat would also work. the sharks will grow too large, they get big. I would look into thast and make sure you are leaving enough space for the adult size of all of your fish :) the rule is NOT 1 inch per gallon... you have to consider adult size, as well as the volume of the fish in the water... fishlore.com has a calculator for how much water each fish will need if you get rough adult dimensions. good luck

Dear I am from Karachi, Pakistan and I have a very vast experience of fish keeping. You should not buy very expensive and variety of fishes at first, I suggest you angel fish but they are bit expensive, and hard to maintain, so you should buy mollies, guppies and a cat fish for cleaning.
Mollies and guppies can give birth to many beautiful fires (not eggs) these fishes are easy to purchase, maintain and afford. You can get experience from them.
BUT DONT EVERY MIX EVERY KIND OF FISH WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION IN ONE AQUARIUM, BECAUES THIS CAN LEAD TO FIGHT OR WAR IN YOUR TANK :)

Nice diversity, a lot of those fish DO look like they are salt water! They sould be fine in a 60 gal. tank. REMEMBER! 1 fish to every 1 gallon!

Like you said, angel fish are aggressive. I had one named Spot. It ate at least six of the other fish.
