After all, guns are what kill, right? And since our Federal, State and Local governments are all people who were elected and if they say we can trust them, obviously, we can trust them, right?

PLUS, they have all sworn to protect and defend the US Constitution, so ignore the fact that they want you to break Constitutional law and give up a Constitutional right, right?

I think you are INSANE. To quote a bumper sticker...You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead fingers. And I will take a bunch with me. Guns do not kill People kill. More people die in car crashes than in shootings, so I'll be expecting you to turn in your car bright and early Monday morning. LMAO

Its not the gun that kills-do u ever see a gun be fired by its self? no you don't-its the person behind the gun and that individuals mentality/mood. However, the constitution allows one to protect themselves. If they out law guns-there's going to be more violence because guns are not just the issue. Its the fact that the goverment wants to interfear with personal lives. Not everyone can take martial art classes so the next best thing is a kitchen knife. Besides some people that have an intent to kill a large number of people always show some kind of sign (i.e. Colimbine-everyone knew that the two boys were deeply depressed and were really into the Nazi parafenlia (sp?) but their parents and school teachers did nothing, the Virginia Tech shooter-was depreset and everyone knew he was a loner-why did someone not go up and make friends with him-that one person could have saves the lives of everyone that got shot).

That will never ever happen. If that is what you believe then someday you will make a fine slave. This is America. You can't compare this country to Australia or countries in Europe or any other place. Those people have never known the freedom that we have and they never will. They are all very good subjects there. Here we are individuals.
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.

If you want my guns, you will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I have had death threats from a mentally ill person who has claimed to "cut me up and mail me to my relatives". If you think you are going to get me to give up the ability to protect myself, even if it is with the use of lethal force, you are out of your mind. My grandparents were murdered, and one of my friends was murdered, and there may or may not be a death threat against my wife. You will probably say something like "call the police if you are in danger". An intruder could be in apartment in 20 seconds (my estimate) and the police would not be here for at minimum 2 - 5 minutes, by which time I and my wife could be hacked to pieces and very, very dead.

You also say that it is the guns that are killing people, when in truth it is the PEOPLE that are behind the guns that are doing the killing. They could also use pipe bombs or knives. We could outlaw pipe bombs - except they already are. Knives kill people too, so we would have to outlaw them. Cars kill people, so we would have to outlaw them. Stop blaming the guns - blame the person holding the gun that pulls the trigger. Most people that use firearms do so responsibly. If somebody kills somebody with a hammer, should we outlaw all hammers? The answer to your question is NO.

Even if there were no 2nd Amendment I am sure we don't need the Government or an Amendment to the Constitution to realize that all citizens who want them for Defense, Hunting, Target Shooting. Plinking, Collecting, Survival etc. shall have them without the approval needed from Anyone, Anyplace, Anytime they so choose to own one or more. Basically its a matter of free choice as to whether or not to possess them... The Government or any other human being or law should not even be considered before one can own and use a firearm... I believe it is a persons God given right, because he gave us free will and thats good enough for me...

Absolutely! Here in Australia, you are not allowed to own a gun. There are certain situations where you can but overall they are banned for the average person. A few years ago we had a massive massacre in Tasmania and after that the government made it a rule. Why,for god's sake do you need a gun? I find it amazing (and crazy) in America, that you can walk into a store and just purchase one. They are too accessable to just anyone. Ban guns!!!! You'll then see a lot of the incidences of violence go down

It's not guns that kill, it is people with an unstable nature. This is our second amendment. The right of the people to keep and bear arms. If you eliminate that right you are breaking the constitution that this great country of ours stands upon. You need to remember, It is easy to break, but to fix it will be a struggle. This was put into the constitution so that WE will be able to protect ourselves not only from intruders but from tyranny, for example. In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control and from 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Also Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated and to sum it up that 56 million defenseless people were rounded up and exterminated by their governments in the 20th Century because of gun control.

Each citizen should make his own decisions, I choose to have a gun. I certainly won't make you have a firearm if you do not want one.
