I don't think i'd use the word troubleshoot personally outside of something I was typing up, but if anything I'd go with "Troubleshot". Or "I decided to troubleshoot the problem and came up with some ideas ... " and leading into the answers etc.

Good question! :]

"After troubleshooting the problem...."

Both troubleshot and troubleshooted sound far too odd to me even though both are correct. When that happens, I usually take a different turn with it.

BTW, the dictionary gives you the various tenses of a verb.

trou·ble·shoot /ˈtrʌbəlˌʃut/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[truhb-uhl-shoot] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -shoot·ed or -shot, -shoot·ing.

Troubleshoot is an intransitive verb, and Websters & Yahoo! both list the past-tense as "troubleshot".

Yep, troubleshot. The past tense of shoot is shot, so that would be my best educated guess.

I've never really thought about that before, but I guess you would say troubleshot.
