You can make pc to pc calls.....sign on to skype or sign on to yahoo instant messenger and you'll be able to

Okay as stated, that sound like a tech issue instead of a family and relationships issue.
If you're having trouble calling someone using your comp phone service, it may be that they have blocked anonymous calls. I use Skype, and it sends out my phone number as a series of numbers unrelated to my actual number. Try from a cel or pay phone and see if that works.

Of course it'a a scam. Microsoft never, ever makes calls to tell you you have corrupt files. And how he was planning to get your info was to ask you for it. People give their personal information, bank account information, passwords, credit card numbers and just about every other bit of personal data to people like him every single day. It's called "social engineering" and it's the most common computer crime. NEVER ever give personal information--including information about your system--to ANYONE who calls you. If you didn't call them, you dont know who it is.
