I understand your feelings, I just lost my 14 yr. old granddaughter & we had a BD gathering w/immediate family & a few of her friends. We took balloons & flowers to her grave site. Some of the balloons we left there, some of them we all put notes on them to be delivered to heaven & let them go until they were out of our sight. We all wrote our own feelings on paper. I did write a couple songs for her, took the music from two children's church songs I liked & rewrote them to suit her. We have a couple ceramic figurines that have hinged tops on them. We placed the notes we wrote in the ceramic figurines. We often stop by & leave our notes for her. It's comforting & the feeling we are talking to her. Don't know if this w/help you or not. Bless you for what you're doing!

Put your thoughts on paper, and put in an envelope. It is heartfelt and personal and the right way. Otherwise, find a mushy religious condolence card thatt expresses it.

it dosn't only need to be a poem, but should be your own thoughts and feelings.

you could write a letter or song (with or without words)
