Congrats on the new baby....
if you have a light or dark complexion the marks may not go away. Moisturize with oil daily. During pregnancy, I kept my belly oiled so when it stretched it wouldnt damage or break the skin too badly. It is a good idea to moisturize frequently like 2-3 times a day especially since you are losing weight.

I was concerned about gaining the weight because I was skinny, having your body stretched out to capacity is a scary thing. I gained 20 lbs during pregnancy and lost most of the baby weight within the first 2 months and I dont have a single stretch mark. Johnson's baby oil GEL works great. Our baby is 8 mos old and I am back to my regular size 4

I know a few people have said this but bio oil - it is quite expensive for what you get but the bottle lasts ages-cos its an oil you dont need a lot!!I think it depends on the person too tho-I have a ten month and have stretch marks from the pregnancy and also losing weight, i have been using the bio oil and it has made them fade a little but not go, however my friend has just had a baby and she used it all through her pregnancy and she has got NONE!!!i was so annoyed ha ha!!
I also got reccommended palmers cocoa butter formula which helped with a scar on my face, apparently this helps with stretch marks too!!!! :-)

Ive had 2 children. I am very little but when i was pregnant put loads of weight and ended up with loads of stretch marks. I tried everything that my friends suggested and the midwives, docs etc, but nothing worked, unitl my mum came back from cyprus and brought back some aloe vera gel. I didnt think it would work, but the stuff is fantastic. I now also have an aloe vera plant. You can use the stuff for all sorts, on stretch marks, bruises, blemishes, and i recently scolded myself with a cup of tea, took a leaf off my aloe plant, sliced it down the middle and spead it all over my arm, it took the buring pain away and stopped me from getting scar. My stretch marks are still there, and dont think that i can get rid of them completeley, but there not half as bad as what they were. You can also get aloe vera from holland and barrat, or the body shop, they are also starting to do more ranges in boots with products containing aloe vera, but the pure gel is best, if not get you own plant.
Hope that helps you out a bit, good luck

Sweetie, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're pretty much stuck with them.

The redness does fade with time to white. Your stretch marks are in fact scars from the tissue splitting from the growth of your pregnancy. The only way to get rid of them is a tummy tuck and even then you will still retain a few, but if you want more children don't do the TT until you are done have kids.

What everyone said is true stretch marks are there forever unless you have surgery. Vitamin E oil and Bio Oil is the best for softening up tissue.

My stretch marks got lighter over time, Mine where a dark purple color, and eventually they got as light as my skin, now that I'm pregnant again they're back but lighter in color than they were during my first pregnacy. I learned to live with them! No cream has ever helped. I used cocoa butter before I got stretch marks to hopefully prevent them, but they still came. I look at them as battle wounds and live with them!

They do fade in time but the ridges stay I'm afraid and the more weight you lose may cause them to have a wrinkly appearance, they're not nice but you learn to live with them, it's all part of being a mother so be proud.
