Unfortunately, we don't take our responsibilities very seriously. As a global leader and world peacekeeper, we should explore every possible diplomatic option before ever going to war against anyone for any reason.
Economically, we are crawling into a huge hole of debt which will take generations to pay off - if we ever can.
Our political system is among the most corrupt in the free world.
Our cultural and moral values have declined just as those of the once-powerful Green and Roman empires did just before they collapsed.
The U.S. needs to play a leadership role in trying to protect and preserve Earth's fragile environment. If the billions we squander on war were invested in ecological endeavors, we - as the most powerful nation in the world - could achieve spectacular results that would help maintain the delicate ecological balance between man, plants, and animals. And, as much as most of us would like to ignore it, our survival depends on that delicate balance in nature. South American frogs, rain forests, polar ice caps, seas, and the ozone layer were not put here for man to destroy. They're all there for a reason...and humankind's hubris has assumed that we are superior to all other creatures on the planet. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The U.S.A. could influence other nations into becoming more aware of why the animal kingdom and all of our precious plant life is vital to our existence as a species. That's what our responsibility should be. -RKO- 04/21/07

Trying to achieve things in a more diplomatic manner and to focus mainly on the internal affairs of the country. The power it once used to have doesn't shine that bright anymore, other countries are competing and doing even better now. Still, having said that, it never hurts to be less greedy and listen to what foreign countries have to say, and start using some of their thoughts as constructive criticism. Doing good brings good ..U.S should also stop deficit spending on the war and try to spend the money on health-care and everything that's needed to be taken care of internally at the moment.

I use to think we had every right to take the lead in the world. However, I believe, since the world seems to increasingly hate us, maybe we need to back off, and ignore everything... then see how long it takes for people to beg us for help. I imagine it would be pretty quick.

We just need to set an example of a free society, not succumb to the temptation to force it upon others.
