From what I learned it depends on when you start working out. For example: if you are 65 years old, had 3 heart attacks already, and listed at 300 pounds, chances are you won't really be extending your life that long. In fact over exerting yourself to get in shape might just kill you.
However if you are 22 years old then you could increase your chance of living a great deal. I've even heard one teacher say that if you are over weight, then work out and get in shape (and stay that way), then you are actually better off than someone who is not overweight but doesn't work out.

Wow! What a great question!
The answer is a resounding "yes"!
When a person is obese, they not only have to live with the discriminations piled upon them by society, but also with co-morbidities, or serious diseases related to their obesity. These can range from joint pain to congestive heart failure.
Once the obese person loses enough weight to get back to a healthy weight, those co-morbidities resolve, allowing him or her to live much longer than they might have originally.

well your risks go down to those of a person of "normal" weight. I lost a lot of weight and no longer have to take meds for my diabetes.
kinda like smoking when you quit (granted there are no problems already) you go back to having the same risks of a non smoker.
so it really depends on whether there is any irreversible damage done while obese,. but yeah you go back to pretty much normal, you have the same risks as a non obese person.

No, weight has no factor on the risk of heart attacks. Skinny or overweight, it still happens. You may temporarily feel the loss though but it really depends on the attributes of the individual; medication, histories, etc.

Depends on how healthy you were when you were overweight. Being overweight does not necessarily mean that you are unhealthy (diabetes, heart disease, etc.). Then too, if you were meant to die from an outbreak or something, that is going to happen anyway.
