I have an 89 ranger 2.9L with 4.10 limited slip axle. and was wondering how big of a boat can I reasonable pull out of the water with this truck?

Im thinking 18-20 ft but dont want to try it and slide off into the lake.

PS Im thinking of a concrete launch not gravel or dirt.

The biggest factor will be the angle of the ramp. I've seen 2 WD trucks have problems getting a Jon boat up a steep ramp. We live in Louisiana & boat ramps vary greatly from one part of the state to the other. In the northern areas the ramps to rivers are normally long & real steep (30 degrees). Some in south La. you can launch your boat with the truck @ less than 10 degrees of angle. So an answer o your question will be nothing more than a guess. But if your talking about a bass boat or bay boat or a 20' Jon boat it will do fine. If your talking about a cabin cruiser then maybe not.
Good Luck

You probably need to look at the towing capacity of your Ranger in pounds and then check the weight of the boat and trailer you want. Then hope that you get enough traction on the ramp to pull it out with 2wd. Good luck!
