I realize I'm going to get flamed for this, but it depends on how old the kid is, as well as how dependable and mature they are. For example, a 14 year old should definitely have a curfew, but a 16 year old... maybe, again depending on the the maturity. My mom never gave me a curfew, but I was a responsible teen. If I was going out on the weekend, I was the one who told my mom where I was going and who I would be with and about what time I would be home. If I was going to be home later, I would call her and let her know. The catch was, I was the one who took initiative. I had shown my mother how responsible I was, and she trusted me. That's the key. My mom trusted that I would call her if something came up, and I always did, no matter where I was. I never had a curfew when I was 15 and onwards..

Yes, on a school night it should be no later than 9:30 p.m. unless
something important is happening in school.....some kind of
project or program.....and on weekends it should be no later
than 12:00 p.m. or a little later if there is some kinds of
get together or party......I would like to know where the party
is, find out if parents are there......and no alcohol should be
served......Now the key word if "teenagers".

Absolutely !! At least here in the US, you're not an "adult" until 18.. so the parents are responsible.

From 12-14 I was supposed to be IN for dinner.

From 14-16, I was allowed out after dark ONLY for school related functions (band, theater, games) with a 10pm curfew.

From 16-18 the same rules applied with the addition of work. On Fridays I was allowed an 11pm curfew.

We also had to leave a NOTE stating WHERE we'd be, with WHO we'd be, and appropriate phone numbers (pre-cellphone).

My daughters have the SAME rules... and were surprised when I walked right on down to the cafe they were at when the clock had passed 10:15pm one night.

I think for the most part, yes they should. What time depends entirely on how trustworthy the teenager in question is. Also, you should factor in whether it's a weekend or a school night.

Yes. Not only should they set a time for them to be home, they should monitor their behavior in school, at home, in clubs or organizations/sports groups and make sure they are behaving themselves responsibly.

It's called being a parent and caring for your kid.

under 17 with school the next day yes. by 17, they should know when it's time to come home, go to bed, etc... without me having to tell her. if she screws her life up because she's too dumb at 17 to know that rest and security are important, then, well...

yes, and know where they are too.
I let mine stay out longer if "I know where" he is and a way home is planned. (I talk to other parents)
Unless they're over 18
