Help. I've used windows xp for years and next week I have to work on an apple mac with no training - can I do it? The job agency say it will be easy-peasy and I will pick it up straight away. Any experienced Mac people out there?

At first it might seem that you can't do anything because the OS is different but once you get used to working with Mac OS X you'll find it's pretty easy.

If you can pick new things up easily, it won't be a problem.

You just gotta get used to the interface. It's quite different from Windows XP.

The dock is at the bottom, left or right (where your favourite programs are) - you can add and remove programs from it.

Searching is easy on a Mac with the Finder!

Try learning shortcuts too - e.g. "Apple + Q" - quits a program.

You do get used to it after a short while, and it's really fun finding new things for yourself - little shortcuts etc.!

Have fun!!

Got my Mac on Christmas and was flying by Boxing Day!.

Firefox, Adobe Reader, Open Office, Quick Time, Real Player, etc. all common Windows programs run on OS X too.

There are a few quirks to sort out, but overall OS X is more intuitive than Windows.

Macs are very easy to use. There is also no viruses for Mac. But if you need to work in some special software on mac, you would need training for that particular software. Mac OS X is very easy to use. It is much easier then any version of Windows.

It just depends on you, can you pick things up easily and jump right in to most things? I primarily use XP myself and jump onto a Mac now and then with no problems, but I'm also the guy who jumps into a game without reading to manuals or going through the tutorials. :)

As long as you don't need to do any advanced things you should be fine.
