In My Life
Wow, it's just deep. I know that it has become popular and overplayed since Ozzy remade it, but it's lyrics and tune are both beautiful.
I think I heard this first when I was about 12. I had neighbors that were a bit older than me and loved the Beatles. I listened to whatever they listened to. The most frequently played songs were: "In My Life", "Norwegian Wood", "Drive My Car", "Hey Jude", and "Across the Universe". I agree with you that Hey Jude is incredible. You know it was written for Julian and was originally titled "Hey Jules", right?

My reasoning may not make all that much since and my song preference may change tomorrow but, the Beatles' song that came to mind when I read your question was "Maxwell's Silver Hammer."
My reason for liking that particular song is based on Steve Martin's performance of it in the movie "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
I'm guessing “because I can” would be the best answer to the "How?" part of the question. You didn’t even answer that part of your own question for us though did you?

Hey Jude is my fave too. It was written by Paul Mccartney for John Lennon's son "Julian" @ the time his Mom & Dad were divorcing.

It's hard to pick one or even a few, but I have two I can name right away:
Yesterday because it's a beautiful song, and I can identify with it.
In This Life--same reason.
I also like "Hey Jude", though.
