Let z=x^2
z^2-32z+256=0
(z-16)(z-16)=0
so z=16
and x=+4 or x=-4

x= -4,4,-4,4.
A quatric equation must have 4 roots
It so happens that this equation has 2 double roots.

xÂ²=16
x=+/-4
