hello,
I'm 16 years old and I started dancing salsa a year ago. Now I want to improve and I take private lessons once a week for one hour. I go to dance bars and try to get better. but that is not enough for me. what do u think? where else can i go? what else can i do?
by the way my dance teacher told me that she cannot give me any more lessons because she has no time.
should i find another teacher?

Yes, you should find another teacher. Dancing at bars won't improve your dancing much, it will give you some experience, but you won't learn anything new, especially as a leader because folllowers, even the experienced ones, tend to be unable to teach you.

Look around for new dance lessons. Look into salsa clubs, but also look into ballroom dance studios, especially the privately owned studios not chains like Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire. Some really good salsa instructors teach at studios. By looking around you will discover the great variety in styles of salsa, and you can pick the one you like the best. Go to their advanced group classes, and if you like the instructor ask them about private lessons.

Yes, I think you should find a new teacher, just make sure your teacher is a real professional.
I've been taking clases with two different kind of teachers, one is professional and teaches me the steps names, and explains exaclty how to dance it, and the other one is not professional but he gives us the rythm and the street flavor to dance. you know.
So my recomendation is since you are going out, and practice allot, then just find a professional teacher that is going to help you pulish your steps and improve.

Yes, find another instructor who does have openings for private lessons. If you are pleased with your existing teacher, perhaps you could ask her for a recommendation.

You can find another instructor or you can ask a close friend that knows salsa to help you out.

find another instructor... not saying you should drop the other, but add one... one that genuinely cares, and has the time to work with you, and can answer your questions thoroughly.
