Well, I plan on taking my camaro to the drag strip when it's ready and was wondering how much HP I'd gain for each pound of weight I take out.

U don't gain horsepower from losing weight, but u gain acceleration, top speed, and it changes the way the car handles. The more horsepower and less weight a car has the faster it is. For example if u look at a motorcycle that has 100 horsepower and weighs 400 pounds it has 1 horsepower for every 4 pounds. Compare that to a 07 base corvette which has 400 horsepower but weighs 3,179 pounds. So it has about 1 horsepower for 8 pounds. Thus the bike will destroy the vette simply for that reason. So lose as much weight as you can.

It doesn't work that way. The traction you lose can offset the gain you got by losing weight. You theoretically gain the same acceleration by shedding ten pounds in a car that size as adding 1 horsepower, but there are a lot of factors to consider.

Zero. You do not get more power by lightening the car. You get a better power-weight ratio, which directly affects acceleration.
