Spot on ! , I agree
The problem is they have to be voted in , what ever
The correct way as I see it , is why are we not allowed to vote them out of office
There should be another box that we could , if we wanted to tick , and that is A VOTE OF NO CONFEDENCE
If this was to happen then the govenment in power whould then hear what the people wanted and act accordingly

The reason that demands are not recognized is that the government is a bit more mature than that. There is procedure to do what you mention, however, it does not come from fist pounding, pouting, fingerpointing or name calling. It comes from a procedure that has been around for a very long time and the people in a self governing system of democracy have the power to change anything they wish and if done in the manner prescribed by protocol, the implementation of benefit by society to the change of leadership is possible. If you read about the majority and what it consists of, you will find that there is extreme power in numbers. One or two disgruntled or visionaries cannot change a system of democracy. If that were so, we would undergo change daily. Now, if there was as much seriousness about the qualms with President Bush as there is in Yahoo Answers, this country could start Impeachment proceedings and the same with any state or local representative. Example, Grey Davis, Governor of California stepped out of line moreso than is accepted and boom, he was gone. It can happen anywhere in the country the very same way. Elected officials are at will representatives and just because they are in office there is no obligation to allow them to finish their term. If the people want them out, there is a protocol to fire them that exists and all the people have to do is use it. Most are like you that would rather sit back and throw stones at the system they do not understand and complain about what they do not have instead of learning what to do and stepping up to the plate to make a difference. If you honestly want to change something then start that change whatever it is. I am sure there are people that feel like you and think that it is time for a realigning of our leadership and maintenance of our legal system and dusting off of our rights and freedoms. If you are the one that is to make it happen, then take the appropriate action and begin. I agree that you should have what you want, and you have the power to have it but you cannot stamp your feet and have it delivered. You have the power to make change, any change you want and you do not even know it. Maybe you figure that if you stand back and throw stones or complain that it will just appear to you kind of like magic. There is no magic in democracy. It takes following the rules and guidlines just like life. There are ways to do some things and ways that you do not. Finding the way is part of the battle. Learn about your government and how it works then make the changes you want or get back into the heard and stop stamping your feet. Put up or shut up, whining will not work.

sadly at the very top they dont actually work for us they work for the global elite (the new world order) but if the mass's took it upon them selves to stand up and do the right thing , everything would change we would be able to take our country back in hours , and to be honest were only in the **** were in because of the attitudes of the sheeple.
reason being society has been manipulated into being greedy only careing about themselves working there nuts off so they can buy a beamer , getting in so much debt to buy things they dont need , reading and watching main stream media , zombieing out in front of the programing machine (tv) while eating bad food , taking the vaccinations , bitching and moaning yet not knowing the reasons for what is wrong and not even researching what they disagree with just turn the page and ultimately still trusting a government that blatantly lies over and over again !!!!
DOUBLE THINK IS LIVE AND WELL.

being serious for a moment it takes a tragedy to make a difference. lets look at it in reverse. the IRA bombings in england back in the 70's the prevention of terrorism act is brought into power. along side that there was the emergency powers act, that was anybody in the north of ireland and britain was subject to being stopped and searched without question. now comes dunblane, more or less overnight all privately owned handguns and assualt rifles were outlawed. then comes the london bombings on 7/7/05 the PTA and emergency powers act is re-instated overnight by a late sitting in the house of commons. id say the british have it pretty much sussed, only 30 miles of water seperates ireland from britain but at least they think about outcome and achievment. on the other hand if i was canadian i'd shite meself.

The state has taken far to much upon itself, and made people depend on it for services. Which could and should be payed for directly by the individual. Think of the insurance you could buy for yourself and family, if the state allowed you to spend your own tax money and national insurance. I earn the UK average and this tax year so far 3 weeks including my employers contribution £591.30 that's before £123.00 per month council tax. Unfortunately your only recourse is the ballot box, and another lot eating from the public trough. Look at the debate yesterday on the freedom of information act, and an attempt to emasculate it has far as MPs expenses where concerned. Out of 646 only 6 opposed the bill and talked it out.

You have a good point and, most politicians know this. You cannot get everyone to agree on something, so, the politicians keep doing their thing and care less about the Majority.
If over 50% of the people called their elected officials and demanded something be done about, oh, lets say:
1. immigration
2. social security
3. taxes
SOMETHING WOULD BE DONE. But, again, the people will not get behind something and stay with it. We are all happy complaining to each other, making comments on some forum somewhere and don't bother to email or call the people who we elected to fix things.
Unless or until we get active and call, our politicians will continue doing what they want with indifference to us, the working taxpayers.

I don't think many people realise that those who make up the government are public servants. That makes them our employees. If they are not delivering, ask them why. Remember, if half a dozen constituents write to an MP about an isue, it becomes serious and they start to take action. Use your power, don't give it away.

I think we should be more like the French, if they don't like government policies the entire country grinds to a halt until the government u-turns. Happened with student tuition fees and they even started setting fire to things a few years ago, can't remember why, but I think it was something to do with lamb. Unfortunately, the British are famed for their pragmatism, stoicism and enjoyment of having their backs against the wall. Am I suggesting a revolution? Well, yes I am actually . . .

Well, you sound rather socialist to me, and that not what our nation or its government where founded on. You can always go shopping for a country that meets your needs. You do have that much freedom. Thank god for the USA :)
PS. And if your no longer going to tolerate it Ned N, then go outside, and stomp your feet or something, make a protest sign. Ya got all day, its Saturday. LOL

Because most people abdicate those responses to someone else. They have never written their representatives nor called and told them what they liked or disliked. Our representatives do what they want because “the little people” let them. I write the two losers representing me weekly about what a lousy job they are doing for me. It doesn’t help much with them but it makes me feel like I tried to fix the situation.
