Not really. Its the LOBs. They strand so many base runners that its a wonder they win at all. With Myers in the pen and Lieber in the rotation, their pitching will be better, and the pen might just be pretty good. In fact, I would let Myers close and make Gordon a set up man. You might just see that before long.

I'd blame a lack of starting pitching before the bullpen. That 0-5 is a bad tag to have, but their 3.99 bullpen ERA is still much better than their 4.77 overall ERA.
Adam Eaton and Brett Myers both have 3 starts, and their ERAs are a horrendous 6.62 and 8.31. Freddy Garcia and Zack Segovia each have had a start, and both performed badly. Moyer and Hamels are doing their part, but the other starters are 1-5 between them. Gordon and Madsen are struggling (Madsen is a chronic underperformer) but the rest of the bullpen is pitching pretty well.
I think their bullpen will be fine - and 3.99 over a full season isn't a bad number - but it's their starters that need to turn it around. If Lieber doesn't do any better than Myers in the rotation, and if Eaton continues to stink, it could be a long season for the Phils.

Phillies and Giants have been the two frightening sturdy final 300 and sixty 5 days, and Phillies only have been given an improve by including Lee. i'm going to offer the Giants the part in bullpen purely because of the fact Lidge and Madson get streaky at situations. yet then lower back, with Halladay and Lee pitching, they won't could desire to apply Lidge as regularly now. the two adult men supply you a great number of complete video games for the time of the season. i'm going to experience greater useful with regard to the Braves rotation as quickly as Medlen returns healthful after the All celeb wreck. nonetheless not offered on Lowe, Beachy, or Minor. closer commitee could desire to be thrilling for them this 300 and sixty 5 days too.

I think their starting pitching has hurt them as well because Freddy Garcia is not as good as they thought he was, and Brett Myers was dumped to the bullpen. Plus, Howard and Chase Utley have not hit yet. I will not cry about that idiot Jimmy Rollins. I guess the Mets being 3-1 over Philadelphia so far has got him quiet about the Phillies being the team to beat.

I don't think its the only reason although I will say that Tom "Flash" Gordon is well beyond his prime. His curveball doesn't have as much bite as it did at one point and he needs to locate that fastball. I would also say that once all the starters get going they should be fine, though they won't win the division.
