An equation requires an = sign so this is not an equation----it is an expression.
4x + 8 - 2 = 4x + 6

distribute the 4 to get
4x+8-2
4x-6
add 6 to each side
4x=6
get x alone by dividing 4 from each side.
x= 6/4 or 1.5
