Well, what do you think? Ive got this great business idea, taking wheelchairs for handicapped people, lowering them, putting spinner wheels and hydraulics on them and also neon lights and a booming stereo system. Do you think it will take off? Is there a market for these?

hydraulics on a wheel chair....!
well if you wanna see bunch of crippled folks flying in the air onto the floor and can't get back up.... then I think it's a great idea........lol...
I think the only market would be those who want it just for a laugh.... but if I was on a wheel chair then I definitely wouldn't want it....... but don't let me tell you that you can't do something..... if you believe in it..... then go for it and good luck.....!

I am a wheelchair tech, and we've talked about this a lot at work.

it COULD work, BUT...

1. Who pays? Most chair users don't have money and the stateor insurance sure won't pay. There are not a lot of Christopher Reeves-like users with money out there.

2. Can you do it without compromising the purpose and functionality of the chair? Making the chair wider, taller, heavier, etc. would be bad. Adding electronics to drain the battery would be bad, etc.

3. If something goes wrong, who fixes it? Not only the pimp stuff, but also the regular stuff that is now not covered by the invalidated warranty?

IF you do this...

- Forget the 'booming stereo'- instead try integrated iPod with personal speakers

- Forget hydraulics- WAY to heavy, big power drain, no functionality. Instead, find a new and better way to offer tilt, recline, elevation, etc. (Most use powered screw drives).

- Spinner wheels would hurt someone standing nearby. Try lit rims, lightshows, etc.

Think it over carefully before you screw up someone's ride, and possibly their independence, but give it a try!

Ha! I like it!
I think you'd need to get some advice, especially on things like loss of power, loss of stability, loss of handling.

But if you can overcome such things, get yourself some marketing and advertising advice, and go for it!

I wish you all the best.
