Im looking for the best way to paint a black molded model I just bought. Certain parts require white paint and im trying to figure out how to do this without painting coat upon coat. The model is Revells 1:196 version of the USS Constitution.

The best way is to:

ALWAYS wash the plastic sprues in luke-warm water with alittle dish-soap and then let them airdry !! This will remove any oils and the silicon mold-release which can play havoc with a good paint job.

For the white line at the gun-ports... mask off the area with 3m blue masking tape. Then apply a VERY light coat of primer. Allow any paint to dry thoroughly before handling or a second coat.

AFTER the primer has dried... apply a light coat of matte white, and a second coat if necessary.

Revells' USS Constitution has been around for a LONG time !! I built it back in 1978 !!

Good luck !!

Try using a primer first, then paint it white, you will probably have to use a few coats.
