I have a job opportunity in Australia. What permissions will I require to take my stepdaughter?
We do not know the whereabouts of my wifes ex partner, but he has a PR. But he refuses to see her.

You really need to see a solicitor that specialises in family law. You may have to go to court to get the PR overturned.

Speak with the probation department at the court house where the your wife and her ex stipulated their divorce. I suspect that she will have to write several certified letters to his last known address. She or the court may also be compelled to do a search for him. If he truly has "disappeared," your wife will be issued some sort of document giving permission to leave the country. If you experience any difficulty, call your local Congressman's office. The staffs are usually very good at assisting with these sorts of issues.

Good luck in Australia. I hope all three of you have a wonderful time.

Blessings.
