Sperm can live for up to 7 days, 5 days is the general rule.
Then once an egg is fertilized it can take 6-12 days for implantation to occur.
After implantation it takes around 48 hours to build up enough hormone levels.

So 20 days.

"If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)"

It takes a day for fertilization to occur if you were ovulating or had just ovulated. After fertilization it takes a full 7 days to implant in the uterus (if it does - most of the time they don't). You cannot detect pregnancy until after implantation because implantation is the beginning of pregnancy. After implantation, it takes another few days to a full week for the pregnancy hormone hCG to build up enough in your system to be detectable by a home test.

So, it is going to be about two weeks before a home test will give you accurate results. This should, also, be about the time you miss a period if you are truly pregnant. Wait until your period to test. If you don't get it when you should, then go get a home test.
Best of luck!
Peace,
Jenn

It takes longer than 3 days. Remember you can take the morning after pill up to 72 hours after having sex. Wait until your next period, or take yourself to your GP who can do a test for you. I would guess ... atleast 7 days +. Get urself on the pill if the guy(s) you're sleeping with don't take any responsibility. Remember there's diseases out there, serious enough that they could limit your chances of having kids in the future. Be responsible girl and take care of yourself!

babygurl, some women know when "it" happens. If your really unsure and you would like to dispell any possible pregnancy go to your local pharmacy and buy plan B. It has been less than 72 hours if you had intercourse on thursday. (its $53) goodluck hun

Probably until your period comes. If it doesn't, then you could consider a pregnancy test.
