What is the current lanscape of L.A.'s rock scene?

Is L.A. still the place to move to make it in rock music?

Its just as dead as the London rock scene, neither of which has produced almost any good heavy metal bands since the 1980's. Finland and Poland have been the hot spots internationally as of late. As for the USA, seems like the mid-west has been doing the most, though New York is still solid too.
