The pros and cons of parallel buses, multiplexed buses and serial buses (I2C)?

parallel bus PRO = speed very fast, CON = the most complex (the most lines)

multiplexed bus PRO = speed fairly fast, CON = needs a demux IC (usually) and still has many lines

serial bus PRO = only a couple lines (2 - 4), CON = SLOW!!
