You people have never tried hard drugs have you. Working while hi is not gonna make you write better lyrics! Are you people crazy..Me and some of my friends actually tried to lie to people who were against using drugs once at a party that the marijuana actually made us smarter.Trust me it does not! But sure, you do think up crazy **** when wasted. So i guess it can sometimes help to get ideas, but i´m pretty sure most of the writing of those artists was done after the hi went. It´s not like people who use drugs are hi 24/7.

If you were making your own art of any kind, you'd feel some of it it, too - it's the frustration with the inability to fully convey what you hear/see/feel in your head - no matter how hard you try, what you produce is never as good as what your inspiration brought, and it is a HORRIBLE tension that leads them both to creat great stuff and burn themsleves so quickly. Slowburners manage to come to terms with never being able to reach that perfection and go easier on themseelves with years - like Bowie - but Hendrix, Morrison, and such couldn't control it soon enough.

No. There are too many writers out there to say that. The ones you mentioned while writing a performing memorable music are not just remembered for their words, unfortunately their actions are remembered first. Sex, drugs and rock and roll, was what it was about, now its more about the music.

it depends on what they're addictions are. if you are an addict with things that would make you hallucinate or imagine things. it would surely make you a great artist. if you are addicted to socialization or love, i think it would affect you as a song writter. addictions are good as long as you are having fun, enjoy at the same time you are not decreasing your health or years to live.

I agree: living life on the edge heightens the passions; creates a climate of urgency....great art thrives on that-

The trick is learning to dare to live after becoming adept at daring to die....

Yes, it seems that way, because Musical Artists and any kind of Artists are usually b-polar!

No, I do not. I don't much like the lyrics of those people. For the most part, I find them meaningless and rather bland. I much prefer those of people who aren't addicts.
