You don't need to match the shoes and bag anymore. Besides, with a long dress you should keep the shoes simple and comfortable. I'd get a really pretty clutch that compliments the jewelry and keep it simple if your dress is fancy. Also, if your red dress is a bright color then gold accents look best. A darker red would look better with a matching shoe color and a black bag. Lastly, keep your make-up simple but sophisticated because you are wearing a dominant color that can wash out your skin tone and you are the one who should look fabulous, not the dress. Either black or gold would look great depending on your coloring. Both would work for future formal events, too.
But, gold goes with everything but silver; while black doesn't go well with white or pastels.
Gold is seasonless; therefore I think more versatile.
