Yeah that sounds like the first clue that something's wrong with the town when all the high school kids are at an indoor outdoor restaurant listening to music and the preacher comes and turns the music off. Everyone looks scared and shocked...
another good early 80's dance movie is Girls Just Want To Have Fun. :)

I know yesterday I said 'Fast Forward' but now I'm leaning toward the 'boombox scene' from FOOTLOOSE too :-)
All the high school kids are hanging out at the outside tables of their local diner. Someone pops (an illegal) cassette in the boombox and music starts playing. They show several people doing normal things while the music slowly takes them over...lol Such as a couple guys bouncing basketballs, one spinning a ball on his finger, people tapping their forks and spoons, etc... Then, when she's overwhelmed by the beat coming from the boombox, the lead female character gets up and starts dancing! Not good for her though. He father (the town preacher who helped to outlaw music & dancing) walks up and catches her. As to not embarrass her he doesn't say anything and hands her a 20 dollar bill for food. :-) That's all I have to say about that...lol
