Should i buy a 1996 mitsubishi 3000gt with a blown engine, if i intend to fix it up?

there is a 3000gt at this dealership and it has a blown engine. They will sell it to me for about 2k or less. is this thing worth the money? How much would you pay for the car? And how much do you think it will cost to fix it. the salesman says that he can get an engine for 500 dollars but i don't know if i should believe him or not.

I am 16 and about desperate for a car. it is an automatic with 99k miles. should i even consider this thing.

The salesman is a liar,,,,,,never trust them. He might get you a engine for $500 but how long will it last.

If it is a base model 3000 that is FWD with a v-6 then it wont be to expensive to fix.

But if it is a 3000 VR then there WILL be many things that need to be fixed. Costs of repairs can easily exceed its value.
Then again, if you spend the money and replace everything with all new parts then you would have yourself a brand new VR-4 which will be totally awesome.

Mitsubishi introduced the 3000 in the early 90s and it looked like a exotic super car, and performed like on too!

That thing would seel for 4 or 5 grand if it was running. If the dealer could put an engine in for $500, why hasn't he done it? Those cars have some of the most god awful overpriced parts in the universe. Even fixing the little things would cost a fortune. The only way I'd take that car would be to part it out.

that car is not worth the money u will need to put in to it, if it was a 3000gt vr4 then i would have said yes, but its probly not because it is a auto, i would just save up some money and buy a car u like that runs

mitsubishi eclipse (maybe even a gst or gsx)
eagle talon, tsi tsi awd or esi
dodge stealth
3000gt (running)
there are alot of cars u can buy u just have to look around

also i would not go through a dealer if u go private party u will save tons of $$$

OK so let me get this clear , if he is selling the car for $2000
plus $500.00 for the engine . if they are going to install the engine is such a great deal , this car is well worth over $5500
in working condition , push them into selling you the car running for the $2500.00 don't pay more than that. good luck and if you buy it please be careful this is a sport car and as such is very very fast , since you are inexperience driver , you may end up hurting yourself. or others , so slowly, slowly taking a while ..... hey also I forgot this car is also equiped with a pussycat magnet , know what I mean. LOL

OMG!!! Those cars were dogs and they didn't make very many of them so parts are gonna be hard to find.You'd be better off with an eclipse.At any rate no matter how desperate you are don't but it unless you can drive it away.They say the motor is blown but how do you know the transmission isn't gone too?

Pass on this car dude. Get something cheaper and more simple and easy to work on so that you can pick up some of the basics of what makes a car go and what to do when it lets you down

while reading a book, you're stimulating your brain. You better your reading and literacy skills so you in the process, become more literate. Even with today's modern technology, you still need to have the ability to read.
While watching t.v. can be good fun, it isn't doing anything to the human brain.

it is not worth 2k with a blown engine! maybe 500...? and 99k miles? dont waste your time this car is not going to last
