1) Dr Matthew Thornton, chair of the draft committee :

"Dr Matthew Thornton was the president of the Fifth New Hampshire Congress, which on January 5, 1776, adopted the first constitution in the colonies. He had also chaired the five man committee that drafted that document. Since this acceptance vote was not unanimous, New Hampshire wrote to the Continental Congress for an opinion of their actions."

Hmmm, it seems that although the document exists all over the net, the individuals who framed the NH Constitution are not specifically mentioned. John Langdon and Nicholas Gilman were delegates to the writing of the U.S. Constitution. Maybe they had a hand in writing the NH version????

This constitution was framed by a convention, or "congress," which assembled at Exeter, December 21, 1775, (in accordance with a recommendation from the Continental Congress,) and completed its labors January 5, 1776. The constitution was not submitted to the people. This was the first constitution framed by an American Commonwealth.

The 1776 Constitution did not contain a Bill of Rights, nor was it submitted to the people of New Hampshire. The constitution was the first constitution ever ratified by an American commonwealth.
