You might consider giving him his own login (Control Panel->User Accounts) on the machine so the two of you don't bump heads again. If you do, give him Limited privileges to limit the chances of malware getting on the machine.

For the immediate problem, in Firefox:

1.Go to the website you want as your home page.
2.Click on the Tools->Options menu item.
3.On the Main tab, look at the three buttons under Startup.
4.If there’s one that says “Use Current Pages”, close all the pages except the one you want. The button should change to “Use Current Page.”
5.Click the button that says “Use Current Page.”
6.Click OK.
7.You’re done.

In Internet Explorer (6)

1.Go to the website you want as your home page.
2.Click on the Tools->Internet Options menu Item.
3.Select the General tab.
4.Click the “Use Current” button.
5.Click OK.
6.You’re done.

Just browse to a page you want. In tools/internet options you will see the original default page, beneath this click use current and it will change to your preferred page. Set your son up with a logon of his own, preferably non-administrative. His changes will not affect your desktop then.

Go to Tools
Hit Internet options

There will be a spot with the address of your current homepage, all you have to do is type in the address of your desired homepage, and click Apply

And there you have it.

Also, most sites have a
"Make "..." your homepage"
Option.
