What the rest forgot to say is that... velocity also includes Direction. The direction of the particle traveling without it... it is not velocity but merely Speed.

Velocity is distance over time.
So:

v = d/t

A car that travels 100 miles in 5 hours has a velocity of 20mph.

v = 100/5 = 20

The most common being v = d/t

It kind of depends on what question is presented to you and what variables are given.
