Hi,
Does anyone in the UK know where i can send in a .wav of a bird song i have recorded so i can identify this bird?
It is around during the dawn chorus and throughout the day too, it's unlike anything i've heard before but I'm just unsure whether it is here as it is warmer and where i'm from originally (sunny Blackpool) we didn't get many birds apart from gulls :-)
I'd really like to find out what he is. All i can see of him is that he is a mid brown and that doesn't narrow it down does it lol
Many thanks x x

Try the Ornithological Museum in Tring - they are the bird department of the Natural History Museum, and the latter was most helpful when I had an insect I couldn't identify.

You might want to see if any local universities have an ornithology department. It should be a subdepartment of the biology department if they have one.

Email one of the faculty there and nicely ask if they would listen to it and, if you have a photo of the bird, see if they'd take a look at it. You can either put the files on a website or ask if you can email it to them. You might get lucky and someone will be kind enough to ID the bird for you.

If you can't find an ornithology department then someone in the general biology department might be able to help. If you still can't find anyone to help you (they are likely busy after all) you can probably check local birdwatching groups. Someone there is bound to be able to ID the bird for you.

Good luck!

Is there a local Audubon society in your area? If so, they would be the ones to send it to.
