I am more Republican than Democrat, and I respect everybody, but that does not mean I agree with them. I try not to make blanket statements about Dems, so please don't make all Repubs out to be something we're not.

You yanks need to get a grip. I see all these rude comments about each others' ignorance. It doesn't matter really - you are all pretty ignorant. Many say that Islam is a religion of peace - and if you don't convert or submit, you will be killed! But on the same token, Christians share many of the same characterstics and think everyone MUST believe your religion or go to Hell. The so-called battle of civilisations is NOT between Islam and Christianity, but between religion and secularism. Unfortunately, by enlarge, Americans (unlike most of the secular Western world) are on the WRONG side of this battle. Until people stop brandishing these silly old books that are supposed to be the word of the Creator of the Universe in everyone's face as the ONLY ANSWER BECAUSE THE BOOK SAYS SO, we are careening towards global armageddon - and baby, there ain't gonna be no rapture for 144,000 select people - just like there sure as Hell ain't no 72 virgins waiting for every martyr.

I can understand Islam, I have read several passages of the Quran, but have not read most of it. However, I have did research on the religion. I have no problem with Muslims. However, when religion restricts basic freedoms, we should not turn our backs. I respect everyone, I dont agree with everyone, but i respect everyone. Islam itself can be easily used as a threat to democracy, if you have read any of the Quran. It is not this cute and cuddly religion. It is violent, although most in the US do not practice Islam in this manner. Islam contains wisdom, there is no doubt, but it contains hate and complete intolerance.

Well, I'm pretty much politically neutral, however, I tend to agree more with many aspects of Republicans. But as you point out, you (meaning Dem's/liberals) RESPECT their religion, which is all fine and well, and sounds on the surface like a do-gooder Democratic way of thinking. However, you seem to also respect alot of issues that tear down the original ideal of the AMERICAN way of life, and support and sympathize with many groups of people who want to IMPOSE their way of life onto everyone else, regardless if they agree or not. How many conversations would we be having about Muslims and Islam and terrorists if it weren't for 9/11? I'm frankly sick of hearing about them everywhere I turn! And it's people like you who want to forget events like 9/11 and act like we owe them one shred of sympathy here in the U.S.A. I say it's a great thing if the women of Islam want to change their barbaric, backward, suppressed way of life against their evil leaders who control their religion! As a matter of fact, that is the ONLY way I want to hear about them at all, is if I can actually see all these Muslims who are always so quick to tell you how "peacefull" they are actually stand up for PEACE and wipe out their own evildoers within their religion.

the last time i checked it is not the governments job to understand or care about any religion... the liberals have made that real clear in the last quarter of a century with regards to Christianity .... so if it is not the governments job to worry about the practices of one group of people who cares if they learn about the other religions
and if liberal respect how Islam deals with their women.... are they as willing to understand, respect, and deal with how they will treat their infidel a$$e$.... if they win this struggle ... think about it

We understand that Islam, or the fanatical branch of it, wants to dominate the world by killing all non-believers. Democrats think they can talk to these people. Why don't democrats respect my religion (Christianity)? If a girl is socialized to believe that she should be submissive and go along with oppresive male domination, is it right? I thought democrats believed in the idea of equality of the genders.

I'm as liberal as we get, and I have very little respect for any aspect of Islam. I think it's like witnessing christians during the Inquisition: Not all of them may have participated, but few of them actually did anything to stop it. (obviously, I'm not referring to their attitude toward women).

On the contrary, Republicans understand Islam. You are a fool if you really think that women actually had a choice to become Muslims.
They were born into a Muslim family and to become something different would have cost them their lives. There is no free choice at work here.

They understand only one language: money.
Republicans only converse in money and hatred. They care nothing for the form or function of those who do business with them.
For example, a well known follower of Islam who immigrated to the US and set up dozens of groups and fronts did business with George W. Bush during his campaign.
Seems he was also an open supporter of Hamas and was a direct participant in an assassination attempt against the Saudi Royal Family.
The republicans don't care. It's all about the dead presidents...
