As much as I grew up Christian, it didn't "fit" me. I had too many questions and was always a what if kid. My dad was not devout to any particular faith. He is a very logically based person. So he and I would entertain my what if questions about God's possiblities together. "What if God was the starter of what is now thought of as evolution?" "What if there were more People than Adam and Eve". (How can you tell a story about only two people if no one else was there?) I could go on and on. Christians (including my mom) never answered them and actually started discouraging them in me. As I got older I was fortunate enough to encounter people who encouraged me to QUESTION EVERYTHING!. I'm not one that can accept "Well this is the way it is just because" I need to know all the A to Z...ALL THE STEPS of A-Z. When Christianity didn't quite add up and no one was willing to tell me B-Y, I started to lose belief that it was the end all be all only right answer. I started studying some other belief structures. Each had some beautiful and incredible things to say, but each tended to not revere certain things that I hold true.
Pagan and other Earth Religions tend to be the only ones that believe ALL THINGS are of God/Higher Power and should be treated with that kind of Reverence. They do not limit the possibilities of the Gods and Goddesses. ALL THINGS are possible. And they DO NOT BELIEVE that any one person is wrong for what the do believe. They firmly practice religious tolerance. They encourage letting your mind wonder about all the wonders!!!
Each person has the right to believe what they want to believe. Thats very important in a society that continues to perpetuate and justify hate, murder and other inhumanities all because of a disagreement about each persons God!!! If we would QUIT telling each other your wrong my God is they ONLY TRUTH and start excepting that there can be SEVERAL TRUTHS we would finally be able to find the peace we seek and start leaving hate behind.

People are searching for something that answers their questions on life and their existence that aren't getting answered by main stream religions. In the old days they would have to be satisfied with answers like "the bible says so" or " God moves in mysterious ways" and never really get an answer. Now with things like the Internet and people getting brave enough to talk about other ways to think and belief systems, they know or want to know about other religions that may have the answers they are seeking. I see alot of dissatisfaction at the grass roots level by the common people. I hope this helps to answer your question.

I was Christian and now I am pagan (Wiccan) to be exact.
Why did I change paths? Because my life lead me in this direction. I've always believed that all paths lead to the same end but was always told I just needed to have more faith.
I don't agree with them. I have enough faith. I just needed a new direction.

I think you're asking why did we become pagan and what our previous belief is, yes?
Because that was the path that suited me, and there was no previous belief.

Paganism is not a religion. It is an umbrella label for many religions and crafts. I will only speak for myself in saying there was no previous belief. Please do not confuse Pagans with Christians, we do not hop from sect to sect or religion to religion, neither do we proselytize.
