Tough choices. They all have ups and downs in what they are.

Piplup is fairly balanced in strength, yet strong moves like bubblebeam can't be learned until Lv.24. quite alike to mudkip in ruby/sapphire/emerald in move order. Piplup is a water-type, by 3rd stage gets water/steel status (a first to become water/steel). By then, he gains better defense

Chimchar is quite far the fastest of the 3, good fighting attack power but lacks special attack power. It has also a fairly low normal defense and good special defense Can fight strong when evolved, yet fire-based attacks lack what power the fire-type starters charmander (red/blue/f.red/l.green), cyntaquil (gold/silver/crystal), and torchic (ruby/sapphire/emerald) have. Chimchar starts as only fire, but by the 2nd stage gains fire/fighting status like torchic.

My choice is turtwig. May lack speed, yet has incredible normal and good special defense as well as strong special attack. Learns razor leaf quite early and by final stage, learns earthquake (first grass-type to learn it w/o TMs). more powerful than all starters in all games within the grass category, even bulbasaur from the red, blue, f.red and l.green games can't beat turtwig in overall attack and defense. Turtwig is a grass type and gains grass/ground status by 2nd or 3rd stage (first starter to have grass/ground element when evolved).

(f.red= fire red/ l.green= leaf green)

Piplup

YOU MUST GET TURTWIG! If you look at it, he will be super effective to his rival. His rival will be a fire, and the third evolution of turtwig is grass ground. Ground is super effective to fire, so it all works out. The second would be the fire dude (Chimchar). The piplup third evolution is water steel, making chimchar's fire attacks normally effective to the empoleon. The third being piplup. Piplup is good against most trainers due to its steel status at its third evolution. Against the elite four and rival, empoleon gets owned.

I cant get it but if I had it i would choose a piplup since when it evolves to a Empoleon, it will be a steel/water type. Its indestructible.

Piplup, because of it's proudness, and its final evolution, Empoleon.
