There has never been a President removed by impeachment. Nixon resigned without impeachment brought. Johnson and Clinton had impeachment filed and were tried.

2 presidents have been impeached. Andrew Johnson in 1868 & Bill Clinton in 1998. Neither were convicted by the Senate.

Nixon wasn't impeached, he resigned. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were impeached by the House of Representatives only.

Clinton. Clinton was impeached but being impeached doesn't mean they have to resign. Nixon resigned. Clinton was impeached but did not resign. Impeachment doesn't force a president to leave office if it is overturned.

Impeachment has three steps: no president made it to third, but there is hope. President Clinton was last to make it to step two.

Bad politics, AND, he fired his Sec. of War. He refused to help rebuild the south and to carry on with Lincoln's plan to educate the newly freed slaves. Insteady, he was interested only in punishing the southerners for having tried to divide the union. He'd made a lot of enemies and the firing was the straw that broke the camel's back.
