You never clean coins period. They will lose value and you may cause more damage. If a coin is really rare, it can be what is called "conserved". That is done by a company that specialize in this and it is not cheap. They know what they can and can not do. Sell them the way they are. I do have to admit that a lot of ancient coins have been cleaned, but that is usually done by a person who knows what they are doing.

Wheat cents? Don't clean them. And find out which ones are "key" coins for collectors. Examples include the 1909 VDB, 1909 S VDB, 1914 D, 1931 S, and the 1955 double die.

Yes... they lose their value... and most auction they won't buy them.

yes i would not clean them if i were u cuz it would stain it i would use mild soup
