The kids really burnt some popcorn and now my whole house stinks!!!!!! My house has an open floor plan, so whatever happens in the kitchen effects the whole house. How do I get the smell out of my microwave?

Cut a Lemon in half and put both halves in a bowl of water in the microwave for about 2 minutes

Use a clean cotton dish cloth soaked in water and lemon juice is okay - I like clorox (just a capful for a gallon of water). Microwave that on high for 30 - 60 seconds. Be careful when you take the cloth out, it's going to be very hot - When it cools off enough to touch, you can wipe the inside of the microwave with it.

Open the windows for a while (an hour or more) if the weather is okay. Then burn a scented candle or incense to clear the smell out of the rest of the house.

I burned popcorn, too, and set a bowl of white vinegar inside while the microwave was off, let it sit a day and then washed the inside of the microwave and the platter that rotates, and the smell went away.

Soak a cloth in vanilla extract and leave it in the microwave for a few hours (or overnight).

When I put a bowl of water in for a short period of time to loosen the scum and clean it, I add som fresh leem peel to the water. After cleaning, it smells nice.
