Killing babies is okay but having a gun to protect ourselves against criminals is not...

The Right to BEAR ARMS was in our Constitution from the beginning.
The Right to CHOOSE to abort and kill defenseless babies never made it in there.
I wonder why...

To a Liberal it is ok to Murder as long as your (Republicans) aren't doing it
its ok to go to war and kill if your a liberal
its ok to kill a innocent child if your a liberal (as long as your not doing it in Vietnam... or if your a republican at all...
its ok to be killed but not kill....
it is ok to protect yourself as long as your not harming the person assaulting you or indangering your life...
its ok to kill a innocent baby who has never harmed anyone...
but its not ok to kill a man in prison who took the lives of many..... you know you will never understand their logic simply because their is no logic to understand...
don't bother trying
Liberals just want something to whine and cry about...
even if it doesn't make any sense...

Offer them some cheese to go with their whine!

Okay. You want the right to put a gun in your home even though you are 37 times more likely to kill a member of the household rather than an intruder.

Now that I understand your conservative mindset, I now begin to understand why some mothers choose to die giving birth, and why you would choose to impose death on some pregnant women.

Is there something incongruent about these positions?

An important question for me is: When does a group of cells become a living being with the right to live? I assume that your answer is when an egg is fertilized. Many Americans would answer differently. I am assuming that your beliefs arise from your religious convictions. Do you have a right to impose your beliefs on the rest of the world despite the plurality of religions?

This country was founded on the notion of separation of church and state and so this then becomes an individual decision. However, there is complete agreement that killing people with guns is unacceptable and there is mounting proof that the ease of purchasing guns contributes to this problem.

WOW! talk about comparing apples to oranges- you are really stretching with this one...
OK.. let me give you an example.. so instead of the crack "addict", to put it nicely... being able to have an abortion at sa 12 weeks.. you would rather that baby be born possibly addicted to drugs, with HIV, and possibly Neo Natal Herpes, maybe even some FAS in there too... could you image for a minute how horribly that baby will suffer- and you think that is a better idea.. and a better life for that baby... and lets not even get into the fact.. that possibly the woman is so cracked up that she doesn't even go to the hospital .. but instead throws the baby in a dumpster and walks off.. sounds like a much better idea.. for that woman to come to term with that baby... great idea.. lets make abortion illegal and let the newborn babies suffer and die
Now lets go on to guns.... yeah anyone should have the right to buy a gun... what harm could it do... any Tom, Darrell, or Harry can go get a gun... regardless of who they are... I can see the future now... yep.. sure is a bright one....

Whether or not you agree with the choice to abort a pregnancy, for any number of reasons, we are talking about a woman's choice for what will happen in her future, to her body. It is a choice that she is making and doing to herself and she faces the consequences of that. Don't think though that just because the right to abort or not wasn't in the Constitution, it didn't happen two centuries or more ago...and it wasn't unnecessarily illegal at the time.
As far as gun control, how many guns have been used, in say the last decade in American households or by American citizens (not law enforcement) to defend themselves of an intruder? Sure there are a few cases, but there are far more cases of deaths caused by a domestic conflict, a child getting into a parent's "safety case" with a gun in it and accidentally shooting a friend, teenagers going on rampages at schools, etc. The more of these weapons we have circulating, the more at risk we are of being a target. Somehow Americans feel safer, thinking if they have a gun, or at least the right to get one pretty easily, then they are safe. Many, many times it's just the opposite. I would encourage you to read the book, "Freakonomics" by the way, which has some really interesting facts on abortion that may surprise a lot of liberals and conservatives.

Gun control and banning guns are not the same.
The 2nd Amendment issue is decided, espescially with
todays Supreme Court.
But this kid in VA just had to answer "No" when asked if
he'd ever been involuntarily committed.
Not very reassuring.
My state required that I pass a CORI background check, to prove I'm not a convicted felon.
I'd rather know that you're not a nut job or a criminal.
Why do you have a problem with that?
Are you a nut job and/or a criminal?
Have your gun. But prove you aren't crazy or a criminal.
And maybe wait a week or two. The revolution you envision will wait for you.

Lots of generalizations there.
I think we should have laws that keep the wrong people from getting guns. its not an imposition to the Constitution to require some protections. I am a social liberal and I find it completely called for to have background checks, gun safety classes, and bars to automatic weapons. I am a gun owner with a concealed carry permit.

And I think women should be able to choose their own medical care with their doctor. I am a woman who never choose to end a pregnancy by abortion. And urged a son and 16 year old girlfriend to place their child for adoption instead of their making that choice (they chose adoption). BUT I can not make that choice for another woman.

Taxes on the wealthy ate the lowest they have been in decades... So how come they are not making jobs. A new study just showed that the upper class ate richer than ever... So how come they are not making jobs? Here's some common sense for you: why would a business owner hire more people and pay more labor costs when consumer spending is in the toilet? Do you somehow think a business owner will make jobs if it will not increase their profits? Do you use your brain at all?

edubya- One makes that choice when they try to commit a violent crime against an armed victim. Sad that you have to take the side of criminals in stating that they have no choice but to commit these crimes. I suppose you oppose capitol punishment too. Is you point that people CHOOSE to be victims of violent crime?????

Just as extremist from both sides fight these two issues it is sad that the commonsense middle ground is ignored.
Abortions that are not funded with tax dollars and not carried out late term.
Gun possession is regulated to those that have passed training and background checks.

Let me get out the sidewalk chalk and draw you a very large but simple picture, dearie...

Abortion is lame; it is a last-ditch method of eliminating a careless pregnancy that could have been dealt with by simple contraception.

I DO NOT SUPPORT ABORTION, AND NEITHER DO MANY DEMOCRATS, SO JUST GET OFF THIS $HIT, WILL YA?

Secondly, I don't give a rat's azz HOW many guns you want to own; whatever gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling.

I seriously doubt that you own ANY guns. Prove me wrong.

You try to reduce every complex situation to a simple "either-or" argument, and that's not the way life works, dearie.
