the core 2 duo adds up to 3.6 right and 2.8 goes up to 3.2

these chipsets come with this machine that currys are selling

what i wanna know is! which machine should i get, cos there is one with more usb connections a better chipset and a bigger hdd. apart from that there the same machine

by the way the pc is a compaq
1gb ddr2 ram
160gb hdd or 250gb hdd
dual layer dvd rw
512 nvidia geforce 7500le
9 in 1 card reader
5 or 7 usb connections
17" philips tft monitor

Well like the last guy said, these aren't chipsets, they are processors or CPUs, whichever name you like. It is a somewhat important, because there is a part of the motherboard called a chipset, and it is a totally different thing.

Anyway, the Core 2 Duo is easily better, faster FSB, more efficient architecture, and has the last guy said, more instructions per cycle. You cannot however simply multiply 1.86 by 2, it doesn't work that way. Ghz is not the most important thing in judging processors anyway.

Those are processors not the chipsets. The answer is the core duo as it can do more per clock cycle than the pentium which uses the old netburst architecture. Hope this helps.

it is okay for surfing the internet, etc. yet once you are going to play video games, i'd propose updating the snap shots Card to a NVidia GeForce, or the different with 800mb dedicated. in case you will play video games with this, positioned it on the backside VIDEO SETTINGS which you will get for a smoother overall performance. wish this helps and have a sturdy day!

d = dual core and is faster
