People say "go with the flow". I would like to know first of all what that flow is according to YOUR experience, and how YOU go with the flow.

Right off I can think of two different answers. The first one has to do with the analogy of rowing your boat=life.
Some people thing that to get anywhere, one has to work hard, therefore when they set out on the river of life they choose to row upstream, against the flow. On the other hand there are also some, like myself who come to realize that rowing downstream is much easier, more pleasant a trip, gets you farther faster, and in the end is more rewarding. An example could be the person who is an anti-abortionist and fights every day that war. It takes a lot of energy and makes for difficulties with no real chance for achievement. Another has more or less the exact sentiments, thoughts, or feelings but decides that all is well and deverything happens for a reason and lets it all go. This person chooses to relax instead of fighting and finds peace. This person's desires have a better chance of finding manifestation. Not because he/she chooses to stick his/her head in the sand, so to speak, but because his/her prayer does not meet resistance.
This is going with the flow and reaching health and well-being.
Now another way of thinking about this saying is this: the energy which creates worlds, universal love, also has a flow. This flow is powerful. It circulates through not only human beings but all animals, plants, and things. When we as humans get into a state of resistance by being negatively charged, the positive energy is blocked and just like when a garden hose is kinked it can cause a rupture, the same happens to us and we call it disease, or going against the flow. Now when the creative energy or love flows unrestricted through us, and it can be detected by us, it then reaches out into the universe of thoughts, emotions, sensations, to be attracted to similarly or identically vibrating ones. These then coalesce, come together, and form mass on one level or another depending on the origin. Briefly this is a law, the law of attraction. Going with it can also be analogous to going with the flow and this should lead to happiness. Resisting it also falls within the scope of this law, but leads to unfullfilled desires, etc. Have a great day!

The flow, to me, anyway, is a set of parameters with the least resistance, that leads to a common objective.

Take for example, a rounded stone on the side of a steep mountain. It is highly likely that when the mountain shakes, the stone will roll down (as it is the path of least resistance). It's not likely to go up, or sideways for that matter.

And there's the stick or piece of wood in the river. It'll probably go with the flow. It is highly improbable for it to not to. Even if it does, the stick might break into pieces, trying to fight the current. Poor little stick...

So there it is. The path of least resistance, that leads to a common, if short term, goal (be it survival, profit, or just plain greed. There's a lotta stuff that people live for today)

It could mean "whatever happens, happens" just go with it

e.g. say something changes in your life (good or bad) and you don't know how to take it, instead of trying to control it you just go with the flow of things and deal with things as they happen.

or do what other people are doing

e.g. When your driving on a highway and everyone in front and behind you is going say 10 miles/hr faster than you, it's better to go with the flow and go that 10 miles/hr faster to keep traffic flowing smoothly!

Those might be a bad examples but do you get the idea?

In short, "the flow" is your life or current state of things. Whether you go with it or fight against it is up to you.

Going with the flow in genera means 'take things as they come' meaning just sit back and let life happen, let thinsg happen if there're bad or good deal with them. many people find this way of life happier and more better.
I know from life experiences, like once i was to rushed and had to much to do i stressed and my heath both phically and mentally was terrible, i had to spend 3 months in a reharb center! It wasn't fun and it tought em alot about how being at peace and having a slower life makes all the differnce.
Hope this answerd the question well enough!

When river or flood is turbulent, do not try to swim against its flow. You shall be tired but won't reach your destiny.

So go with the flow means, just follow what other do in the society and do not oppose them if you dont have the strength to make them follow you.

You've got to be able to adapt, and adjust to your surroundings. "The flow" could be the outside stimulus that one receives. Instead of resisting life because of your frustrations, unmet expectations, etc... Sometimes you've just got to take what life gives you. I think that the old adage "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade." represents the "go with the flow" lifestyle well.
All this being said, I don't know if it's always best to "go with the flow" I think sometimes we need to stick to our guns. If 'the flow' is taking us somewhere we don't want to be, then don’t just ‘go with the flow.’ But that's just me.

id agree with the previous one stop worrying and analyzing,
I'm always analyzing i just cant help it then when i try doing something and it doesn't work out id try and try it finally when i decide to give up and "go with the flow" then suddenly the thing works (like when you search everywhere for your keys or something and find it the moment you stop looking),

i find it kinda scary to "go with the flow" but things seem to always work out great when i do (perhaps because i loose all expectations) i think the most part is when it comes to the ladies it only ever works out when i "go with the flow".

the "flow" is usually considered what most people think or are doing, or what is occurring in a situation,,,,, it is sometimes good to go with the flow, like drifting down a river,, but it is also good sometimes to go against the flow, battle you way upstream! the hard part is deciding which is best in any situation
