Were you shown three lines? There are three lines in the genital area of a girl on a standard ultrasound that represent the labia. If you saw those and you were 28 weeks, I'd say it's definitely girl.

It depends how the baby was positioned during the scan and on how good the person interpreting the scan was at his/her job. I've heard stories of people being told they had a boy, when in reality the umbilical cord was mistaken for a penis, and I've heard stories of people being told they had a girl, but in reality the penis was hiding behind the umbilical cord, so it just depends.
I had my first (and probably only) ultrasound 2 days ago, and I asked the person doing it how certain she was, mentioning the cord confusion thing, and she pointed out to me on the screen that the umbilical cord was transparent and at quite a distance, whereas the penis was not transparent, so that there was really no way she was mistaken. She also said that she'd been seeing the penis pretty much all the time from the beginning of the 20 min checkup onwards. Our son apparently was positioned quite nicely for the scan. :)
So, basically, just ask the person how certain they are... too late for that now though. Personally, I want to mostly have neutral clothes, as I want to be able to reuse them for any future babies I might have, although I'm really tempted to go make lots of light blue baby clothes now (and hey, a girl wearing light blue is not such a big deal, if somehow, magically, our son turns into a daughter). I'd say it depends... how horrible do you think it is to dress a newborn boy in a pink dress, if they turn out to be wrong? I think that the worst part would be having to explain to everybody that your cute little daughter is actually a son... the newborn doesn't care. And it's easier to change diapers (or do elimination communication) on a baby wearing a dress than wearing pants, I'd imagine, whether it's a boy or a girl. They used to dress baby boys in dresses in the past (just not pink ones).
Or just buy one pink dress for now to celebrate and leave the rest till later. Dressing your baby in all pink might get boring pretty quickly anyway, even if it really is a girl.

I think it's about 70% accurate. Was it a normal ultrasound scan or one of those 3d scans? On the 3d scans they are very accurate and something like 95%. Mine was right but I also know a few people whos scans were incorrect. On the whole though they are normally right. Congratulations by the way. xx

i'd not worry. Scans received't inform you a lot of something at this element except courting (and that is in straightforward words truly precise contained in the very early weeks). it truly is close adequate going off your very last menstrual date. on the instant they could evaluate you 7 weeks pregnant if that's been 7 weeks because the first day of your very last era. Do you've some health themes or some reason to rigidity that you want an early test? some Dr's are prepared to do a ton of scans. Others are hesitant. i ought to err on the component of no longer getting ultrasounds any more beneficial than needed. maximum persons do no longer seem to do not ignore that we're not even completely positive in the adventure that they are thoroughly threat-free. for instance, that's been shown & shown in laboratories that wounds that receive an ultrasound heal slower. We also recognize that those frequencies truly excite molecules & cause them to warmth up. those are not any more issues to purposely disclose a turning out to be toddler to "in basic terms because". There are some theorists that ask your self if it truly is a conceivable link in strengthen expenditures of ADHD, autism, etc. I actually have no doubt that they do as a lot sturdy as any potential harm in the adventure that they don't seem carried out extremely some circumstances in accordance to being pregnant. even if, i'm somewhat leery of wondering women human beings favor to have their pregnancies "dated' each and each of the time with those early ultrasounds for no genuine reason. GL! Have an fairly good being pregnant. :)

they are fairly accurate, but I wouldn't go all pink until the baby comes and you know for sure. I knew a family that was told they were having a girl. They had the nursery done and bought clothes for their daughter that would last her through kindergarten. When the blessed day came, they had their precious baby boy to take home.

They're about 90% accurate. Some people do get surprises on delivery day, or at a later unltrasound. I'd go ahead and buy pink, but leave the tag on unti her lower half makes it into the world! Good luck!

It also depends on how good of an angle they were able to get.
We are having a boy. The first two scans were "probably" with the third a definite as they got a crystal clear view of the nether-regions. I was 24 weeks along when we got our confirmation of the gender.

Dont run out and buy all the pink off the shelf just yet. Scans have been known to be wrong. Just save yourself the aggrivation of returning clothes due to wrong gender and buy unisex clothes for now.

i would say they are pretty accurate , theres only a small percentage of people who have been told the sex and it was wrong. I was told i was having a girl..and i did. But my mum has known someone who was told they were having a girl , and they had a boy. I think if they say its a boy then it definately will be as they can see the testicles and things, but i think with a girl its more hard to tell as it could be a boy with his testicles hiding.

I think pretty accurate, however hospitals cover them selves as some people where the information was wrong then tried to sue the hospitals, some hospitals even refuse to tell you now.
I would wait until another scan just to make sure.
They got it spot on with ours!
